A Specialist Course for People Who Stammer

If only I could eradicate this horrible stammer my life would become so much easier. This is something that I used to regularly say to myself when I was younger. I was unfortunate to develop a stammer when I was a young child.

Despite attending extensive speech therapy sessions, I still had this form of speech impediment when I was in my twenties. What I really needed was some form of specialist course for stammering.
 
“This type of speech therapy is not working mom. I have been to see many different speech therapists for as long as I can remember but I the stammer is now even more severe than ever. Are there any specialist type courses for people who stammer, specialising in helping people who stammer to achieve fluency?

Speech therapy is designed to help people who have a range of speech defects or speech impediments and the speech therapists have not actually had a stammer themselves.”
 
The above was a conversation that I had with my mother when I was around fifteen years of age. I was becoming quite desperate at this stage to find a cure for the stammer as it was starting to take a grip on my life.
 
My parents were very supportive of me and did try to find a suitable course or stammering treatment. They were aware of how much the speech impediment was affecting my life and were determined to help me as much as they possibly could.
 
At the age of twenty-two after having had the stammer for eighteen years, I managed to find the answers that I had been looking for and was able to eradicate the stammer from my life for once and for all.
