The struggle to talk to people in authority for people who stutter

I always found stuttering to be an extremely frustrating problem to contend with. When I felt quite relaxed, I could talk quite well and would hardly stutter at all, when under any sort of pressure the stutter would become far worse.
The more pressure I felt under, the more I would stutter.
For this reason, I always found it hard to speak to people who I considered to be in any sort of authority. At school this would of course be the teachers and at work it would be my boss.
I will never forget the experiences that I had with my first ever boss. He was without a doubt a control freak and loved the power of being in charge.
I was only sixteen at the time. At this age I had a very low self-esteem and was an extremely nervous person. As we all do, I would make the odd mistake at work and would then be summoned to see the boss.
He would rant and rave and ask me why I had made such an error. Even as I write this today, I can not believe the way he used to treat people.
When attempting to explain the mistake, I could barely speak a word and the stutter became out of control. I am sure it was like a game to him and that he thought he had won when he could hear me struggle.
What goes around comes around and I am confident that he will have had his day since, as you can see I do not bear a grudge!
